I gained  my PhD in teacher identity formation at Middlesex University. I have an MSc   in Teaching English (Applied Linguistics and ELT) from Aston University and a BA in Psychology from Manchester University. I am a Senior Fellow of the Higher  Education Authority (SFHEA) and have the Royal Society of Arts Diploma and  Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language to Adults (RSA DTEFLA, RSA CTEFLA).

Before joining  Middlesex University, I worked at Swansea University and on distance-learning MA  courses for Birmingham University.  Prior to that, I taught in Spain, and Ecuador with the British Council / Overseas  Development Agency, and trained language teachers in Ecuador, the UK, Greece and Thailand.
